Most students would choose biology for their undergrad studies due to the reason that courses are easier than chemistry and biochemistry so that they will get higher GPA, which is NO.1 crucial point in getting into medical schools. Some stated that GPA of 3.7 is cutting line, anything blow than that makes it harder to get into the school. However, your experience in medical research and volunteer work at hospitals are asset. You also have to know that some medical schools pay more attention to the last three-year GPA while some evaluate the last two-year GPA, which is different from school to school. In last semester of undergrad, students who want to become MD have to take MCAT test, which is admission test for medical school, includes verbal, biology,chemistry and math parts.
